Cork University Hospital officially launch Wheel4Life 2016 with Bishopstown GAA 11th July 2016: CUH Charity today launched the second Wheel4Life Charity Cycle with the help of Munster Rugby Captain, Peter O’Mahony and Senior Hurler, Shane O’Neill. Funds raised from the 2016 cycle will support the expansion and refurbishment of the Chemotherapy Day Unit in Cork University Hospital, by increasing the number of treatment bays in the Unit. Supported by Bishopstown GAA, the cycle will take place on Sunday 28th August at the Bishopstown GAA Club.
Over €5,000 was raised during last year’s inaugural cycle, with funds going to much needed cancer services and endoscopy at Cork University Hospital (CUH). This year’s cycle will feature three routes; the 40k and 100k routes will start and finish in Bishopstown with a new 8km family route which participants can choose to walk, run or cycle. All participants at the event will be treated to a BBQ and family entertainment on return. The 40Km route travels as far as Innishannon and back, while the 100Km route will go to the beautiful and scenic Old Head of Kinsale and back. The day will also feature a family fun day.
The registration fee is €20 for the 100Km and 40Km cycle. There is no registration fee for the 8Km route, instead, all donations are welcome in lieu of a fee on the day. Bike rental is also available through Wheel4Life sponsor, The Edge Sports shops in Cork. For more information about the routes please click on the following link http://bit.ly/29GKFSL
