Type Onesie Day is HERE!

Join the fight against Paediatric Diabetes with Type Onesie Day!

We are excited to introduce Type Onesie Day, a new educational programme and fundraising initiative designed to support children living with Type 1 diabetes. Organised by CUH Charity in collaboration with CUH Paediatric Diabetes Team, this campaign aims to raise vital funds for the Paediatric Diabetes Service at Cork University Hospital, while raising awareness about this life-altering condition affecting thousands of children across Ireland.

Why Paediatric Diabetes Care Matters

Type 1 diabetes is a serious autoimmune condition that affects more than 2,500 children and young people in Ireland. This lifelong condition requires daily insulin management, regular blood sugar monitoring, and constant vigilance to avoid life-threatening complications. The Paediatric Diabetes Service at Cork University Hospital provides critical care and support to young patients and their families, helping them manage the condition and live full, healthy lives.

With the incidence of Type 1 diabetes on the rise, funding for essential services like education, specialised equipment, and family support is more important than ever. Your school’s participation in Type Onesie Day will directly benefit these children and help ensure they receive the best possible care.

How Your School Can Help

CUH Charity will provide your school with engaging and age-appropriate educational resources to help students understand what diabetes is, how it affects those living with the condition, and what can be done to support friends and classmates who have it.

On Friday, November 15th, we invite your students and staff to join in the fun by wearing their cosiest onesie or pyjamas to school! It’s a simple and exciting way for children to show solidarity with their peers living with Type 1 diabetes, while raising much-needed funds for the Paediatric Diabetes Service.

How to Get Involved:

  • Wear a onesie or pyjamas to school on Friday, November 15th.
  • Encourage students and families to make a donation – no amount is too small!
  • Share photos from the day and help spread the message of support on social media. #TypeOnesieDay

Where Your Donations Go
Every euro raised will go directly towards enhancing the Paediatric Diabetes care provided at Cork University Hospital, ensuring children with Type 1 diabetes have access to vital resources, medical equipment, and the specialised care they need to thrive.

Your school’s participation in Type Onesie Day will not only contribute to better care for young patients but also foster a sense of community and empathy among students as they learn about the challenges faced by children with diabetes.

Together, we can make a lasting difference in the lives of children living with Type 1 diabetes. Let’s put on our onesies, raise awareness, and support the life-saving work being done at Cork University Hospital.
