Cork University Hospital and CUH Charity launch Fundraising Dance Extravaganza to raise vital funds for new Children’s Unit

The Children’s Unit of Cork University Hospital, in association with CUH Charity will host an exciting ‘Strictly CUH’ Dance Extravaganza, on Friday 18th November at The Cork Opera House. Over 55 dancers, who are mostly CUH staff members from across 21 Departments and medical specialisms throughout the hospital, will perform dance routines from Salsa, Swing, Rumba, American Smooth, Bollywood Battle, Tango, Cha Cha, Mambo, Rock n’ Roll, Charleston and Waltzs!

Joining in the fun is Ernest Cantillon of Electric Bar & Restaurant and Sober Lane, Pat Fitzgibbon of the Pat Fitz Band and Susan Conway, friend of CUH Children’s Unit.

Training for CUH’s budding dancers has just begun and will be held every week until the big finale in the Opera House on the 18th November.

Funds raised from the event will go towards supporting In-Patient facilities, equipment and services as part of the new state-of-the-art Children’s Unit, which when complete will serve a population of 1.5 million people across the region. The new Unit will be the largest Children’s Unit outside Dublin.

At the launch, Head of Nursing in the Children’s Unit, Marie Watson said ‘This is such an exciting opportunity for staff across the hospital to fundraise for the next capital phase of work on the new Children’s Unit at CUH. All the dancers are busy securing their sponsorship and companies and family and friends have been hugely supportive. We continue to call on businesses and companies out there to come on board and support ‘Strictly CUH’ through event sponsorship packages, advertising in our brochure or in-kind support’.
