The Ring of Kerry Golf Club, Kenmare, Co Kerry will host a 3 ball scramble Golf Classic Fundraiser from 26th to 28th June in aid of the ICU Unit at Cork University Hospital.

The event is being organised by Michael and Julie O’Neill and their children Annie and Joe O’Neill, from Castletownbere, Co Cork, to thank Dr Barry Plant, his team all the nurses and staff at the ICU in CUH and raise funds for the unit.

In 2014, Julie O’Neill’s life was saved by doctors and medical staff at CUH, when she suffered an extreme allergic reaction to the spores in hay and was diagnosed with what is commonly known as ‘farmers’ lung’. Miraculously Julie survived.

‘Dr Plant and all his team saved my life, and for that I am truly grateful’, Julie said at the launch of the Classic. ‘Organising this event is our way of giving back to all the great people who took me in their arms and brought me through this terrifying time in my life. We are calling all golfers to come out in support of our Golf Classic event in the Ring of Kerry Golf Club on the 26th to 28th June’.

Annie, Julie’s daughter who manages Lios Lara Riding Stables in Castletownbere is behind her all the way, and sponsored the Men’s First Prize of 3 golf buggies. Ladies Prizes are sponsored by Simplicity Kenmare. A host of other local businesses including The White Room, Kenmare are supporting and sponsoring the event through donations of raffle prizes and tee box sponsorships.

To enter a team, please contact James on 064 6642000. The cost per team of 3 is €150, which also includes lunch. To donate or sponsor raffle prizes call Michael on 086 872 6513.
