Acclaimed pop artist Orla Walsh has been chosen by The Gallery Kinsale to exhibit a series of paintings at Cork International Airport at this years Cork Jazz Festival until the 10th November, as part of the Big Jazz Fringe 2014.
Entitled ‘A Brush with Greatness’ the series of paintings depict the iconic Guinness brand in a fun and engaging way. The Fringe is part of the Guinness Cork Jazz Festival, and is a week-long series of fringe event activity, all aimed at extending the Festival experience for locals and visitors alike, and is supported and organised by many prominent Cork civic and business groups.
The exhibition of paintings capture the fun essence of the Festival. “We are absolutely thrilled to be showing Orla’s work. What a great way to welcome people coming through Cork Airport, whether they are visiting for the Jazz Festival, for business or for pleasure” said Gallery director Ken Buckley.
Orla added, “I’m delighted to have such a great space to show my artwork which I hope will bring it to a wider audience and showcase the great creativity of all the Fringe participants.”
Some of the Orla Walsh Pop Artist creations features in the collection include ‘Dribbling Jazz’ (30 x 40 inches), ‘Home Grown Guinness’ (24 x 24 inches), ‘Jazz Can Explosion’ (30 x 40 inches); and ‘Crushed Can IV’ which she has donated to the Cork University Hospital charity for auction.
