Cork Medical Oncology consultants and doctors-in-training are climbing the equivalent of Mount Everest on Saturday 30th May to support our fundraising campaign for ground-breaking cancer technology at Cork University Hospital.
Dr Dearbhaile Collins, a Consultant Medical Oncologist at the Department of Medical Oncology, is one of those behind the fundraiser and is also taking part in the climb.
“CUH Charity and their ambassador Peter O’Mahony have initiated the #PullTogetherCUHC campaign and this fundraiser is part of that. We would love everyone involved but with Covid-19 restrictions and the need for social distancing, we will not be able to bring a crowd. So, we are ascending Patrick’s Hill in teams of four to bring down 221 cancer ribbons, symbolic of our ongoing efforts to improve cancer care and most importantly to positively impact patient survival and quality of life. 221 trips on Patrick’s Hill is equivalent to 8840metres, the height of Mount Everest!” she said.
