Julie O’Neill and her husband Michael hosted their 3rd Annual Ring of Kerry Golf Classic in aid of Respiratory & Cystic Fibrosis Units at Cork University Hospital this year at the Ring of Kerry Golf & Country Club on Friday 14th July to Sunday 16th July 2015.

In association with CUH Charity, the charitable arm of CUH and CUMH, the event continues to raise vital funds to support the great work in the Respiratory and CF Units at CUH. Since June 2015, when the Classic was organised for the first time, the Classic has raised in excess of €11,000 to benefit patients in Respiratory & Cystic Fibrosis units at CUH.

Derek McCarthy, owner McCarthy’s Meat Market, Bishopstown and Gurranabraher, Cork said at the launch ‘We are delighted to support the Julie O’Neill Golf Classic at the Ring of Kerry Golf Club this year. We are neighbours to CUH and it means so much to us to give back to our city’s hospital, especially to help respiratory and CF patients’.

Julie O’Neill’s son, Joseph O’Neill helped launch the event. Joseph is a rising star in the golf world, having represented the Irish team in 2016 for the Cardigan Cup, Wales and is shortly heading to Kansas City on a prized Golf Scholarship. Joseph said, ‘I am proud to add my name to the O’Neill Golf Classic and I will be there to welcome all the participants over the course of the three days of the Classic’.

All proceeds and donations from the event will service enhancements in respect of patients from Cork, Kerry and the wider Munster region who are cared for at Cork University Hospital.  The hospital is the only hospital North and South of Ireland that provides for all medical specialities under one roof, catering for a population in Munster of over 1.5 million people.
