CUH Children’s Unit Appeal
Because our children deserve the best and we want to give it to them
Will you help us to raise the €1,500,000 needed to refurbish the CUH Children’s Unit?
The current facilities were built in the 1970s and with 30,000 children being treated annually they urgently need to be refurbished to give the children of Munster access to the state-of-the-art facilities they deserve.
But it’s not just about improving the current facilities. The new Children’s Unit is going to transform children’s healthcare in the region by bringing all services under one roof. All children services, including the Leukaemia and Oncology Unit, will be relocated to the new CUH Children’s Unit.
Moving all our children’s care under one roof means every child will be able to avail of fully integrated, multidisciplinary care. It will be a single centre of excellence providing an extensive range of specialist services for children, under one roof.
It will provide specialist care for children with cystic fibrosis, diabetes, neurology and epilepsy, endocrinology and allergy as well as providing care for children with a broad range of medical and surgical conditions.
Construction has already started on Phase 1 which will provide a new 2 storey extension over the existing unit, transforming it into a single centre of excellence. The new building will feature a day unit, a cystic fibrosis day unit as well as providing a new home for our Out Patients and Haematology and Oncology Departments. Phase 2 will then provide a new state of the art 80 bed inpatient unit.
This ambitious plan will transform children’s health care for the entire Munster region. Please will you support this appeal by making a donation today?
